Kim Carr currently serves as Trustee, Area 3, for the Coast Community College District Governing Board, representing Huntington Beach and a portion of Westminster.

She is the former Mayor and Council Member for the City of Huntington Beach, volunteers for multiple nonprofits, and is on the board for the Bolsa Chica Land Trust and UCI Health - Fountain Valley.

A fourth-generation Southern Californian and a lifelong Orange County resident, Kim grew up in Garden Grove, graduated from Pacifica High School and CSU Fullerton, and currently lives in Huntington Beach with her husband, two children, and her rescue cat, Carnegie.

She has deep ties to Coast Community Colleges, having attended Golden West College and Orange Coast College, served on the Coast Community Colleges District Foundation, and is the proud parent of an Orange Coast College graduate.

Kim champions higher education, aiming to meet workforce needs by keeping Coast Community Colleges affordable, accessible, and relevant. She supports expanding dual enrollment, career-technical education, apprenticeships, and lifelong learning for older adults, ensuring community-wide benefits.
